March 2012

The meeting was called to order by President Sarah Fornara at 5:15 p.m.

Present: Sarah Fornara, Erica Harrison, Irina Papdopol, Mary Stenner, and Heather Stewart.

Erica Harrison read the Treasurer’s Report. We have a balance of $ 4,257.46 with no outstanding bills. However, the walking program rewards still need to be ordered.

Mary Stenner gave the principal’s report. She discussed the fact that approximately $200 is being spent from the office budget for new AR books and tests. She mentioned that the staff is discussing some upcoming field trips. They will be having their staff meeting on the early dismissal day, so will get their funding requests in to the PTO following that meeting. She also discussed the upcoming conferences and the fact that staff will be using time when they are not meeting with parents to clean the attic.

Under old business, the golf tournament date has been set for June 24. A volunteer is need for Aimee Jacobs’ birthday on April 21st. Flower sale forms should be coming home in the next week or two. There are no new developments in the planning for Family Game Night. Heather Stewart and Sarah Fornara will meet at 11:15 on March 26th to discuss Right to Read Week.

Under new business, the idea of a used uniform sale fundraiser at the fish fry was discussed. It was decided to simply continue to offer used uniforms at no cost through the uniform room at the school. More pies and cakes are needed for the fish fry on March 30. We discussed matching the read-a-thon funds for playground equipment. It was decided that there were not enough members in attendance to vote on that, so it will be put in an on-line survey along with field trip funding requests when we receive them. We also discussed a request from the TLC program for funding. We tabled that issue until the next meeting while we look further into the financial needs of the program and what the other participating schools’ PTOs are doing.

The next meeting was set for April 19, 2012 at 3:15 p.m.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:50 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Sarah Fornara

acting secretary

The sixth grade class did a copy/change poem today using Psalm 98. Below is the original version followed by the compiled copy/change version done by the sixth graders.

Psalm 98: The Coming of God

Sing a new song to the LORD,

who has done marvelous deeds,

Whose right hand and holy arm

have won the victory.

The LORD has made his victory known;

has revealed his triumph for the nations to see,

Has remembered faithful love

toward the house of Israel.

All the ends of the earth;

break into song; sing praise.

Sing praise to the Lord with the harp,

with harp and melodious song.

With trumpets and the sound of the horn

shout with joy to the King, the LORD.

Let the sea and what fills it resound,

the word and those who dwell there.

Let the rivers clap their hands,

the mountains shout with them for joy,

Before the LORD who comes,

who comes to govern the earth,

To govern the world with justice

and the peoples with fairness.

Psalm 98: The Coming of God by the Sixth Grade Class

Raise up to your heavenly maker

a song that is new,

He is the one who has done glorious things for us

He has won victory for him with his right hand,

his blessed arm.

His generosity and faithfulness is remembered

toward the house of Israel.

Seen have been the ends of the earth

Our God’s salvation.

Exclaim with glee to the savior,

all you nations,

break into song; sing praise to the heavens.

Rejoice in the LORD with the instruments of glorification,

with the harp of praise in glorious song and praise.

Hear the trumpet sounds and the wondrous horn sing

with praise always to our Savior, the LORD.

Let the people bow down to your Savior,

for he will comfort the world

And all who dwell in it.

Let the waters announce with glee and the rivers shout

with them for joy.
